Dr. Meike Schröder at the 31st AADI Competency Seminar in Berlin
on the theme “A Broad Spectrum of Topics with Depth.”
As always, the AADI covered a wide range of topics. Many important subjects from everyday practice were presented and discussed by experienced experts. Dr. Meike Schröder (Berlin) spoke about contemporary approaches to scar treatment.
From pathogenetic mechanisms and the many factors influencing wound healing to the classification of scars and guideline-based treatment options, she gave an overview of the current state of knowledge. She advocated conducting studies to improve the available data. The goal is often not the complete removal of the scars, but a reduction of symptoms and an improvement in appearance. In most cases, combination therapies over longer periods are required, and the treatment concept also calls for a great deal of patience on both sides.
Dr. Maurizio Podda (Darmstadt) gave an overview of aging factors, the relevance of ROS and the importance of antioxidants in anti-aging treatment. AADI advisory board member Dr. Reinhard Gansel (Essen), regarded as an expert on global trends, gave an overview of developments in the USA and their relevance for the German market.
Further lecture and workshop topics by recognized and experienced speakers included new active ingredients for adjuvant acne therapy (Dr. Eugene Keefe, Freiburg), experiences and recommendations in melasma therapy (Dr. Thomas Jansen, Düsseldorf) and treatment options for malar mounds with radiofrequency therapy, which in the view of the speaker, Dr. Kai Rezai (Münster), represent a simple yet effective therapeutic option.
